Dear MCS Families,
I want to share an important update regarding Ian Bright, the son of our Vice Principal, Ryan Proffitt, and ask you to surround the Proffitt family with prayer and support.
In mid-February, Ian was admitted to the hospital after concerns arose from a recent MRI. What doctors initially believed could be either an infection or cancer was later confirmed through biopsy to be Ewing Sarcoma, a fast-moving and aggressive form of bone cancer. We are thankful that a recent CT scan showed no evidence that the cancer has spread. Following that diagnosis, Ian’s family immediately moved forward chemotherapy and his treatment plan.
As we start to rally around the family, many have asked how they can help. The Proffitts have simply asked for time and for prayer as they walk through this difficult season. We all know that God is present. He is mighty. He holds Ian in His hands.
As a school community, we would like to encourage families who are interested to participate in a t-shirt fundraiser that has been organized to support the Proffitt family.
The t-shirts are $25 each and are available in youth sizes through adult 4XL. Shirts are expected to arrive within 2–3 weeks of your order. We started this with our faculty and staff and are now asking our students and families to support and encourage the family. March 20 and April 20 are coordinated days where we are asking our students and employees to wear the special t-shirts as a visible show of encouragement and unity for the Proffitt family. If you are not able to purchase a t-shirt, please plan on wearing a red t-shirt or red sweatshirt (school appropriate, per the student handbook) to show your support on 3/20 and 4/20.
To place a t-shirt order, you may do so by clicking HERE.
It would be beneficial when ordering or paying that you specify MCS somewhere on the form or memo line as that will help tremendously with delivery/pickup for those coordinating the t-shirt orders.
If you prefer to give a monetary gift to the Proffitt family in lieu of buying t-shirts, you are welcome to give directly via Venmo, Zelle, PayPal to ktwright33 (Katie Wright) who has organized the t-shirt fundraiser. Questions can also be directed to Katie at (513) 706-7450. Thank you for helping us show love and support to this dear family. Please commit to faithfully lift Ian and the entire Proffitt family up in prayer.
In Christ,
Andrew W. Mellish
